San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize | Reports to VP of Hospitality Operations, ECI Development
We're looking for a hospitality leader ready to take full ownership of a branded condo-hotel resort in one of the Caribbean's most sought-after destinations, and elevate it well beyond the brand standard.
This is a turnaround opportunity. The property has a strong foundation and real upside, but it needs a GM with vision, high standards, and the execution skills to match. If you're energized by building something better than what exists today, this is your role.
THE ROLE
You'll hold full operational authority over a 49-key condo-hotel resort with an active short-term rental program, a fitness and amenity complex, and a newly launched in-house food & beverage operation (continental breakfast and full bar today, with a poolside grill and rooftop bar on the near-term roadmap). There is no intermediary management layer on property, you are the senior-most operational authority on site.
You'll lead a team of 12–14 (growing as F&B expands), own the property P&L, and serve as the primary relationship manager for residence owners and the HOA. The resort carries a major international hotel brand affiliation, and you'll be expected to meet every compliance and audit requirement that comes with it. But the real opportunity is building an experience that doesn't feel like a chain hotel: guests should leave talking about their stay, not the logo on the door.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Leadership & Team
Lead all on-property departments: Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Grounds, Fitness & Amenities, and Food & Beverage.
Recruit, develop, and hold accountable a team of 12–14, building a service culture that goes beyond brand baseline.
Ensure full compliance with Belize Labour Law, working closely with ECI's HR team on hiring, discipline, and documentation.
Owner Relations & Rental Program
Serve as the primary point of contact for residence owners, building trust through responsiveness and transparency.
Manage the short-term rental program (33 keys today, expanding to 49 with the new building), driving occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR alongside ECI's Sales and Revenue teams.
Coordinate with the HOA on operational standards and shared responsibilities, and deliver timely, accurate owner statements.
Brand Compliance & Guest Experience
Own brand compliance and the annual inspection/audit process, resolving gaps proactively.
Shape a guest experience that goes beyond the standard branded stay, through elevated service, curated local touches, and authentic Belizean hospitality.
Drive guest satisfaction and review performance across TripAdvisor, Google, and OTAs, targeting a 4.8+ TripAdvisor average.
Food & Beverage
Launch and run the property's first fully owned F&B program, starting with breakfast and bar service.
Build out the roadmap toward a full poolside grill and rooftop bar, managing staffing, vendors, and cost controls along the way.
Amenities & Property Operations
Oversee the on-site Fitness Club (pool, gym, tennis/pickleball), keeping it staffed and maintained as a true differentiator.
Direct day-to-day property operations, maintenance, and SOP execution across all departments.
Financial Management
Own the property-level P&L, labor costs, and departmental budgets.
Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to residence owners and ECI Finance.
Portfolio Collaboration
Partner with the VP of Hospitality Operations on strategic initiatives and portfolio-wide standards.
Share best practices and performance insights with sister properties across the ECI portfolio.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Proven general manager experience in a hotel or resort environment; branded hotel experience is a plus.
Experience in Belize or the broader Caribbean/Central America region strongly preferred.
A leader who leads from the front, communicates proactively, and doesn't wait to be told what needs fixing.
F&B experience, or genuine comfort building out a new program from the ground up.
Financially literate, detail-oriented, and a clear, consistent communicator.
Comfortable working in close coordination with a hands-on VP of Operations, this is a collaborative relationship, not a set-it-and-forget-it posting.
COMPENSATION
Competitive base salary, with a 90-day probationary review, plus quarterly and annual performance bonuses tied to guest satisfaction scores, revenue benchmarks, and brand compliance.
